Two years ago one guy put a strange sword game into Early Access. Players cut each other's arms off, made their own attacks in an editor, and kept coming back. Today Gladio Mori launches the full game. PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S all fight in the same arenas.
Cut, bleed, win
There are no health bars in Gladio Mori. You need to cut and let your opponent bleed to death. Cut their arm off and watch the sword drop with it. Or stab them in the heart and the fight is over on the spot. Cut their legs off, so they stay where they are while you decide what to do with them. Every hit lands on a real body part that can disadvantage your enemy.
Armour is real armour. Plate stops the blade. So the guy in full plate is not scared of your swing. He is scared that you will find the gap in his armour and stab him under the arm.
You make your own attacks
This is the part that made the game famous. You take direct control of your gladiator's body and build a swing from scratch. Frame by frame, exactly how you want it. Then you take it for a test drive in the arena. Sometimes it is glorious. Sometimes you get killed by a guy spinning in circles. Both are equally funny and OK ways to die.
When you have the perfect moveset, share it via mod.io or become an in-game legend by participating in our moveset contests to get it into the game. Pick a full moveset, or steal single moves and build your own style. Most people playing Gladio Mori today fight with attacks nobody at the studio designed.
The players built half of this
15,000 people live in the Gladio Mori Discord. They post movesets, run tournaments and make skins that should not exist.
Dismemberment is in the game because they kept asking for it until it shipped. The stamina system was designed together with a community member. Then modding took off. There are close to a million mod downloads on mod.io. There is a 16 player mod. There is a first person mod. There is a mod that bends your limbs the wrong way and people love it.
Consoles get the mods too
From today PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players can download community skins, movesets and maps straight from mod.io inside the game. Console players normally get the version with the fun cut out. Not this time.
Play online with up to four players, with crossplay between all three platforms. Play local split screen with a friend on the same sofa. Or fight the single player mode alone and learn which end of the sword to hold.
